Determining the coefficient of friction of traction wheels

Measuring the friction for our coefficient of friction calculations

Measuring the friction for our coefficient of friction calculations

Our team built a test mechanism to measure the force of friction on 4″ traction wheels. Afterward we calculated the coefficient of friction. Our traction wheels have a coefficient of friction of 1.2 and our omni wheels are 0.8. We will use this information to determine the best gear ratio for our drive train along with the necessary motors.
