TAPPS is into robotics. After some study the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) will be adding robotics! Nolan and St. Andrews have been very involved in the planning process which began last spring. Based on input from our own Dr. Robert Scheer, Mr. Mike Fenoglio, Science teacher from St. Andrews, and Mr. Benny Araujo, Robotics mentor, TAPPS will be hosting their inaugural robotics competition on October 21 in Waco, TX. This initial competition will be for FLL, FTC, and BEST teams. This is a great opportunity for robotics teams to see where they are at in robot development and a chance to practice their project and presentations. In the future TAPPS will be adding FRC events and other events as the program expands.
“We are very excited honored to have been involved in the planning stages and look forward to competing in future TAPPS events” said Dr. Scheer after the competitions were announced. He continued, “It is such a great opportunity for us and for all TAPPS member robotics teams and I am so happy to see them involved in robotics. I can’t wait to start designing our first letterman’s jackets!”.
It should be noted too that this is the first opportunity for Junior high students to participate in a TAPPS event!
