I would like to take a moment to especially thank all the folk who donated to the Robo Vikes during NTX Giving Day. We raised $4,605 from 26 donors! Thank you! That is about $1500 more than last year, but more importantly, it is up from 9 donors last year. More is better!
I am so excited to be part of this team! We are making great strides with training our students on all aspects of FIRST Robotics. Mr. Denis Bonifert has been with us for a few weeks now and is doing a great job training the students on the mill and lathe. We are headed to the inaugural TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) Robotics competition next week. Mr. Benny Araujo, our marketing mentor, and I have been a part of the planning for TAPPS involvement in robotics for about a year now and are looking forward to seeing it grow. We have received generous donations already from several sponsors this year including PetMate, Lockheed Martin, Leoch Battery/Battery Power Group/eBatteries.com (who came by for a special visit, see the picture here) several of our parents and faculty (who donated during NTX Giving Day,) and more than one machine shop around town has offered to weld and machine parts as needed. My hat is off to all those those students on the marketing team who call and visit our local businesses to explain why it is important for them to support us.
Michael Fiore, Alejandro Araujo, David Martinez, Philip Hernandez, Matthew Ross, and David Yokell are on hand to Thank Leoch Batteries, the Battery Power Group, and eBatteries.com for their continued support of the Robo Vikes. It is going on four years in a row!
