One of the veteran members of Robo Vikes is John Conlin. This season he was promoted to the position of Chairman’s Lead. He is a junior and has been on the team since his sophomore year. John attended Saint Andrews School where he was on a FLL team, and won the FLL project award. In addition to Robo Vikes, he is involved in many clubs such as debate club, philosophy club, and Mu Alpha Theta just to name a few. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Arlington and major in civil engineering.
When asked about why he joined Robo Vikes, John said, “I wanted to gain practical and educational skills that will help me with my engineering career after I graduate”. As leader of Chairman’s, John is in charge of submitting a video and essays for the Chairman’s Award. This award is all about how Team 4206 impacts our community and other teams and is FIRST’s most prestigious award. John along with fellow team member Adriana Araujo have been nominated for the Dean’s List Award which recognizes exceptional students within FIRST. He is also in charge of our monthly newsletter and a member of the marketing team.
John is a very dedicated member of the team and relentlessly works during the day and after school whether in the shop or classroom. Next season he would like to stay in his current leadership role and continue to be a hardworking member of Team 4206.
