2019 Build Season
The 2019 build season started off on January 5th and for the past six weeks the Robo Vikes have been working endlessly to complete this years competition bot. During the first week of build season the team decided to build this years robot with the intent of filling up the entirety of the rocket with hatch panels and cargo. Around week 3 the team came to a decision to focus on filling up the cargo ship and lowest level of the rocket with hatch panels and cargo.
The main design of the robots drivetrain and conveyor system was headed up by senior William Bice. The Cargo Feeder was designed by senior Ryan Bice. The Hatch panel grabber was first designed by junior Adrianna Araujo and later revisions were led by mentor Mike Crance. The manufacturing side this years build season was led by junior Connor FitzGibbon with help from Peter Granados, Oscar Morales, and Drake Varga. During the six weeks the teams Chairman’s presentation has been prepared by junior John Conlin with assistance from Gabriel Socha and Luke Tompkins. Programming this year has been led by junior Brennen Chan and senior Matthew Vu. John Conover and Eric Cura have been focusing on the electronics and pneumatics of this years robot.
The entire team has been able to create an above average robot in terms of design and functionality at the end of the six week build season despite many design challenges and other issues through the build season. The entirety of the team especially those not mentioned above should be extremely proud of their accomplishments as we get ready for competition later this year. Our first competition is March 14th and the Robo Vikes are preparing by making a identical robot that the team can practice with.
